HSD17B

HSD17B

OriGene offers a comprehensive suite of products to analyze HSD17B function. It includes cDNA clones, recombinant proteins, antibodies and other reagents for analyzing in human, mouse and rat. For details, refer to the table.

OriGene offers 4 biologically active isoforms of HSD17B protein: HSD17B2 , HSD17B4 , HSD17B10, HSD17B13

HSD17B2 catalyzes the interconversion of testosterone and androstenedione, as well as estradiol and estrone; in addition to having 20-alpha-HSD activity. It uses NADH as its substrate unlike HSD17B3 which uses NADPH. Studies show that it might play a role in the pathology of breast cancer, prostate cancer, endometriosis and osteoporosis.

Tissue distribution: Liver, Intestine, Endometrium, Placenta, Pancreas, Prostate, Colon, Bone.

Other HSD17B2 reagents:
Clones Proteins Antibodies Lentivirus & siRNA

HSD17B4 is a bifunctional enzyme that is involved in the peroxisomal beta-oxidation pathway for fatty acids and as a catalyst in the formation of 3-ketoacyl-CoA. Defects in this gene that affect the peroxisomal fatty acid beta-oxidation activity are a cause of D-bifunctional protein deficiency (DBPD). In addition defects in this enzyme is associated with Perrault syndrome and prostate cancer.

Tissue distribution: Ubiquitous including liver, heart, kidney, pancreas and more.

HSD17B10 is a mitochondrial protein that catalyzes the oxidation of a wide variety of fatty acids and steroids, and is a subunit of mitochondrial ribonuclease P, which is involved in tRNA maturation. The protein has been implicated in the development of Alzheimer disease, and mutations in the gene are the cause of 17beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 10 (HSD10) deficiency.

Tissue distribution: Ubiquitous including liver, heart, intestine, kidney, sebaceous gland, ovary and more.

Other HSD17B10 reagents:
Clones Proteins Antibodies Lentivirus & siRNA

HSD17B13 is a bifunctional enzyme that is involved in the peroxisomal beta-oxidation pathway for fatty acids and as a catalyst in the formation of 3-ketoacyl-CoA. Defects in this gene that affect the peroxisomal fatty acid beta-oxidation activity are a cause of D-bifunctional protein deficiency (DBPD). In addition defects in this enzyme is associated with Perrault syndrome and prostate cancer.

Tissue distribution: liver, bone marrow, lung, ovary, testis, kidney, brain, bladder, nasal epithelia, skeletal muscle.
