Summary | IFNA5 is a part of the alpha/beta interferon family. This protein is the only subtype of IFNA that can be detected in a normal liver. IFNA5 are produced by macrophages and have antiviral activities. This protein is an important regulator of growth and can affect both cellular communication and signal transduction pathways. IFNA5 is also a prototypic tumor suppressor protein that will repress the clinical tumorigenic phenotype in some malignancies that are capable of differentiation. |
