Summary | Human Surfactant protein is a part of the collectin family of C-type lectins which are synthesized in respiratory epithelial cells in the lungs and contains two types of domains: C-type lectin and collage-like. This protein is a humoral molecule of the innate immune system and is involved in the development of acute and chronic inflammation of the lungs. Human Surfactant protein can be a therapeutic option for cystic fibrosis and a serum of this protein can be used as a disease activity marker for interstitial lung diseases. |
