Applications | ELISA |
Recommend Dilution | This antibody has been tested and validated in ELISA against Gastrin-1. Other applications like immunohistochemistry (IHC), FACS or Western Blot may work as well. Optimal dilutions should be determined by the end user. |
Reactivity | Human |
Host | Rabbit |
Clonality | Polyclonal |
Immunogen | Synthetic peptide Pyr-Gly-Pro-Trp-Leu-Glu-Glu-Glu-Glu-Glu-Ala-Tyr-Gly- Trp-Met-Asp-Phe-NH2 coupled to carrier protein. |
Formulation | Each vial contains enough antiserum for 500 RIA tubes. The powder should be rehydrated with 50ml RIA buffer. Upon reconstitution to 50ml total volume, the solution contains 0.1M sodium phosphate buffer (pH 7.4), 0.05M NaCl, 0.1% BSA, 0.01% NaN3, and 0.1% Triton X-100. Store at 4°C. This should ensure antibody stability for approximately one month. |
Concentration | N/A |
Conjugation | Unconjugated |
Storage Condition | Original vial: at least one year at 4° - 8°C from date of delivery. Minimize repeated thawing and freezing of the antiserum by freezing aliquots at -20°C or below. |

Background | Gastrin is a peptide hormone released by G cells in the pyloric antrum of the stomach, duodenum, and the pancreas. It stimulates secretion of gastric acid (HCl) by the parietal cells of the stomach and helps in gastric motility. Gastrin binds to cholecystokinin B receptors to stimulate the release of histamines in enterochromaffin-like cells, and it induces the insertion of K+/H+ ATPase pumps into the apical membrane of parietal cells. The encoded polypeptide is preprogastrin, which is enzymatically cleaved to produce progastrin and then gastrin in various forms such as gastrin-34 ("big gastrin"), gastrin-17 ("little gastrin"), gastrin- 14 ("minigastrin"). Gastrin-1, also known as Gastrin-17 or “Little Gastrin”, is a 17-amino acid peptide secreted by the G cells in the gastric mucosa. It is one of the major bioactive forms of gastrin found in tissue and plasma. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with Gastrin-1 coupled to a carrier protein. |
