Background | GIP occurs in endocrine cells in the small intestine. GIP is released upon feeding, particularly after carbohydrate-rich food, and is known to sensitize the insulin cells to rise in blood sugar and is thus involved in the insular axis. GIP also inhibits gastric acid secretion. |
