Formulation	Each vial contains enough antiserum for 500 RIA tubes. The powder should be rehydrated with 50ml RIA buffer. Upon reconstitution to 50ml total volume, the solution contains 0.1M sodium phosphate buffer (pH 7.4), 0.05M NaCl, 0.1% BSA, 0.01% NaN3, and 0.1% Triton X-100. Store at 4°C. This should ensure antibody stability for approximately one month.

Background	Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), also known as B-type natriuretic peptide, is a hormone secreted by cardiomyocytes in the heart ventricles in response to stretching caused by increased ventricular blood volume. BNP is synthesized as a 134-amino acid preprohormone (preproBNP). The cleavage product into Brain natriuretic peptide 34 (BNP-34) is a cardiac hormone which may function as a paracrine antifibrotic factor in the heart. It also plays a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis through natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and inhibition of renin and aldosterone secretion. Brain natriuretic peptide 34 binds and stimulates the cGMP production of the NPR1 receptor. Binds the clearance receptor NPR3 This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with BNP-34 coupled to a carrier protein.
