Applications | IF, IHC |
Recommend Dilution | Immunohistochemistry on Paraffin Embedded or Frozen Tissue Sections. Immunofluorescence Microscopy: Dilute 1/800-1/1200 Using FITC with overnight incubation at 2-8°C. Recommended Positive Control: Frozen sections of Rat colon. |
Reactivity | Human, Mouse, Rat |
Host | Guinea Pig |
Clonality | Polyclonal |
Immunogen | Synthetic Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide (Peninsula), conjugated to BSA. |
Specificity | This antibody reacts with Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). Absoprtion with 10-100 µg CGRP per ml diluted antiserum abolishes the staining while Calcitonin does not. It does not cross-react with Amylin (IAPP). |
Formulation | State: Serum State: Lyophilized undiluted Serum |
Reconstitution Method | Restore in 100 µl distilled water. |
Conjugation | Unconjugated |
Storage Condition | Prior to reconstitution store at 2-8°C. Following reconstitution store undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. |
Gene Name | calcitonin related polypeptide alpha |

Background | The CGRP-sequence was predicted from the corresponding mRNA. CGRP is present in the C-cells of the thyroid and in nerves, in both brain and periphery, particularly within the sensory system. CGRP is a potent vasodilator, probably involved in neurogenic inflammation. Medullary carcinomas of the thyroid contain large amounts of CGRP. |
Synonyms | Calcitonin gene-related peptide I, Alpha-type CGRP, CALC1, CGRP-I |
