Recommend Dilution	Immunohistochemistry on Frozen Sections: Use at 1/10 preferably in PBS.  This antibody can only be used on frozen sections and is characterized using the indirect immunoperoxidase method. Cross reactions were investigated using the indirect immunoperoxidase method in a dilution of 1/10, which method is therefore recommended.

Specificity	This antibody clone RC38 stains 97% of primary renal cell carcinomas, 70% of metastatic renal cell cancers and proximal tubules in normal kidney. This monoclonal antibody is used for the identification of primary and metastatic renal cell carcinomas. It does not stain epithelial cells of non renal cell malignancies using standard immuno-histochemical conditions. Cross reactivities: non renal cell carcinoma malignancies: not detectable. endothelial cells in various tumors.

Background	gp200 is a surface membrane glycoprotein expressed on human embryonal carcinoma and is a malignant stem cell of testicular tumors. In normal kidney, gp200 is localised along the brush border of the pars convoluta and pars recta segments of the proximal tubule, as well as focally along the luminal surface of Bowman's capsule adjoining the outgoing proximal tubule. Of other normal tissues examined, the gp200 is also localised along the luminal surfaces of breast lobules and ducts, the luminal surface of the epididymal tubular epithelium, within the cytoplasm of parathyroid parenchymal cells, and focally within the colloid of thyroid follicles. Thirty one other normal tissues do not express similar or cross reacting antigens. Reportedly, gp200 is expressed by 93% of primary and 84% of metastatic renal cell carcinomas.
