Product Components The ORF clone is ion-exchange column purified and shipped in a 2D barcoded Matrix tube containing 10ug of transfection-ready, dried plasmid DNA (reconstitute with 100 ul of water).
Reconstitution 1. Centrifuge at 5,000xg for 5min.
2. Carefully open the tube and add 100ul of sterile water to dissolve the DNA.
3. Close the tube and incubate for 10 minutes at room temperature.
4. Briefly vortex the tube and then do a quick spin (less than 5000xg) to concentrate the liquid at the bottom.
5. Store the suspended plasmid at -20°C. The DNA is stable for at least one year from date of shipping when stored at -20°C.

Gene Summary This gene encodes a multipass membrane protein that functions as an iron transporter. The encoded protein can reduce both iron (Fe3+) and copper (Cu2+) cations. This protein may mediate downstream responses to p53, including promoting apoptosis. Deficiency in this gene can cause anemia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Transcript Variant: This variant (2) lacks an exon and contains an alternate exon in the 5' region, and initiates translation at a downstream start codon compared to variant 1. The resulting isoform (b) is shorter at the N-terminus compared to isoform a. Variants 2 and 3 both encode the same isoform (b).
